Introduction to utilizing the computer in maintaining accounting records, making management decisions, and processing common business applications with primary emphasis on a general ledger package. Three hours lecture and one hour laboratory per week.
Define accounting terminology; analyze and record business transactions in a computerized environment; complete the accounting cycle; prepare financial statements; and apply accounting concepts.
Student Learning Outcomes:
- Develop the skills necessary to do general computer accounting for service and merchandising businesses using QuickBooks
- Complete exercises using accounts receivable, accounts payable, invoicing, payroll, inventory, and job cost systems using QuickBooks.
- Complete the accounting cycle using software and QuickBooks
- Prepare financial statements and complete financial statement analysis
- Analyze pertinent data

Students will complete exercises in both textbooks and answer various questions. Students will upload various financial statements to prove their work.
