Concepts, terminology, principles, theories and issues in the field of management. Three hours lecture per week.

Upon successful completion of this course the student will be expected to:

  4. Define goals and plans and explain the relationship between them.

  6. Describe the fundamental characteristics of organizing.

  8. Explain the role of human resource management in strategic planning.
  9. Describe attitudes in relation to business.
  10. Define leadership and explain its relationship to organizations.
  11. Define motivation and explain current and traditional approaches to motivation
  12. Explain why communication is essential for effective management.
  13. Describe the use of teams in business.

Evaluation Standards

  1. Chapter quizzes – (10%) There will be an open book quiz for each chapter.
  2. Section exams (3) - (50%)
  3. Class projects – (40%) A variety of assignments; individual, team, written, or oral (approximately 10 assignments).

Any student who faces challenges securing basic resources such as food, clothing, or housing and believes this may affect their performance in their course of study is urged to contact the Director of Student Resources, Dr. Deborah Cregger, for support at (817) 598-6444. Her office is on the first floor of Student Services. If the student prefers, they may contact their instructor, who can reach out on their behalf. Weatherford College also provides the Coyote Pantry. The Pantry maintains boxed and canned foods for students in need. The location of the Coyote Pantry is two blocks west of the Weatherford campus at the Baptist Student Ministry (118 E. Park Ave., Weatherford). Pantry hours are Mon-Thurs. 8:30 am-4:30 pm and Fri. 8.30 am-12:00 pm (817-599-6586).
