Course Learning Objectives

The student will develop an understanding of classroom/clinic management; design teaching methodologies; and design and implement lesson plans.

Instructional Methods

This course will be conducted in the cosmetology lab, allowing the student to compile the required Texas Cosmetology Commission notebook on the nineteen subjects as outlined and guided by the instructor. The student will be required to attend the cosmetology lectures, which will include audio-visuals, transparencies and class demonstrations. Individual instruction will be given on the T.C.C. record keeping requirement.

Required Materials
T.C.C. forms as needed to complete the requirements. Notebook, paper, and pencils.
Program Learning Outcomes

Students will demonstrate understanding and application of various methods of teaching, evaluating, philosophy, and professional development in the field of Cosmetology.

  • Students will have an understanding of how to develop lesson plan; students will have a basic understanding of the various methods of assessments used in teaching.
  • Students will have knowledge of how to prepare for and conduct a class.
  • Students will have knowledge of the different learner types and how to develop a lesson plan accordingly.
  • Students will have knowledge of professional performance including effective communication skills and teamwork.
