Instructional Methods

This course will be taught by individual instruction using the criteria from the Texas Department of Licensing for oral lesson plans. Lecture, audio-visual aids, and demonstration will also be used to assist the student.

Cosmetology Hairstyling Teacher-Training Manual, by Jacob Yahm, 1988 ed., Milady Publishing Company. Texas Cosmetology Rules and Regulations. Standard Textbook of Cosmetology, 2012 ed., Milady Publishing Company.

Required Materials
TDLR forms as needed to complete the requirements. Notebook, pencils and pens.
Program Learning Outcomes

Students will demonstrate understanding and application of various methods of teaching, evaluating, philosophy, and professional development in the field of Cosmetology.

  • Students will have an understanding of how to develop lesson plan; students will have a basic understanding of the various methods of assessments used in teaching.
  • Students will have knowledge of how to prepare for and conduct a class.
  • Students will have knowledge of the different learner types and how to develop a lesson plan accordingly.
  • Students will have knowledge of professional performance including effective communication skills and teamwork.

Weatherford College also provides the Coyote Pantry. The Pantry maintains boxed and canned foods for students in need.
