Instructional Methods

This course will be conducted in a cosmetology lab, hands-on experience requiring the student to demonstrate styling skills during lab hours. Lectures, audio-visuals, transparencies and class demonstrations will constitute the major portion of the class which will in turn be demonstrated by the student instructor. Completion of the student instructor’s workbook is required.

Styling aids as needed for demonstrations, transparencies, and visual-aids.
Program Learning Outcomes

Students will demonstrate understanding and application of various methods of teaching, evaluating, philosophy, and professional development in the field of Cosmetology.

  • Students will have an understanding of how to develop lesson plan; students will have a basic understanding of the various methods of assessments used in teaching.
  • Students will have knowledge of how to prepare for and conduct a class.
  • Students will have knowledge of the different learner types and how to develop a lesson plan accordingly.
  • Students will have knowledge of professional performance including effective communication skills and teamwork.
