Residency, as defined by the State of Texas, requires that a student live in and establish domicile in Texas 12 months before the start of the semester. To establish domicile, one of five criteria must be met:
- Be gainfully employed in the state of Texas;
- Own property in Texas on which you reside;
- Own a business in Texas;
- Hold a license to conduct a business in Texas;
- Be married to a Texas resident who has established domicile.
