Principles, procedures, and regulations governing the legal and ethical relationships among physicians, patients, and health care professionals. Includes current ethical issues related to the various healthcare professions and patient confidentiality.
Course Learning Objectives
Define general legal terms as they apply to the practice of medicine. Discuss opposing views and principles of bioethics. Understand basic legal terminology. Identify aspects of the Patient’s Bill of Rights. Analyze legal case studies, giving oral and written interpretations. Identify ways to avoid a phlebotomy-related lawsuit. Define HIPAA, and discuss the significance of these laws on medical professionals. Ascertain the responsibility of the medical professional in identifying and reporting abuse. Study the business aspects of healthcare.

Her office is on the first floor of Student Services. If the student prefers, they may contact their instructor, who can reach out on their behalf. Weatherford College also provides the Coyote Pantry. The Pantry maintains boxed and canned foods for students in need. The location of the Coyote Pantry is two blocks west of the Weatherford campus at the Baptist Student Ministry (118 E. Park Ave., Weatherford).
