Plagiarism Policy

If a student is suspected to be acting in a manner that compromises their academic integrity, I will adhere to the guidelines found College handbook to deal with the situation in the appropriate manner. Plagiarism is taking credit for someone else’s work; text copied directly from a source and not cited is a common form of plagiarism. Other forms of academic dishonesty occur when a student is found cheating on an exam.

Course Learning Objectives

At the conclusion of the course, the student should:

  1. Understand the basic techniques of association of melody and harmony in tempo is called rhythm.
  2. Be able to play a simple melody in a single line of tones.
  3. Be able to construct chords that provide the harmonic base and outline the form.
  4. Be able to understand using these components is transformed into a work of art by the exercise of imagination, emotion, and selectivity.

Evaluation Standards

Attendance is most important. You will be allowed three unexcused absences before your grade will be lowered. Each additional absence will reduce the final course grade by one letter. Excused absences are those recorded by the health services (within reason), your doctor, the Dean of Students, or classes missed for ensemble performances. For any classes that will be missed not due to sickness, I do request an email prior to the date you will miss class.

Tests and Playing Exams must be taken at the scheduled times. If you miss a test due to an excused absence, the test must be made-up within one week of your return to class or the grade will be recorded as a zero. An excused absence must be due to professional obligations (letter from professor or Dean’s office) or due to sickness, which must be recorded by the above-mentioned health services.

Assignments and playing exercises are due strictly on their due dates. Any assignment received after the class in which it was due will result in a full letter deduction of the assignment’s grade. After 5 days, you will receive a “0” for the assignment.

Grades will be given on the following scale (percentages):

100-90: A
89-80: B
79-70: C
69-60: D
59-0: F
