Course, designed for non-science majors, that surveys topics from physics, chemistry, geology, astronomy, and meteorology. This course constitutes a study of the basic principles of physics. Emphasis is on general scientific concepts and how they relate to our everyday living. Topics include motion, energy, heat, electricity & magnetism, waves and the nucleus. This course is suggested for elementary education majors.
Competencies
By the end of the semester, the student will be able to
- Identify the basic physical principles and their effect on our lives.
- Quantify the effects of the basic physical principles.
- Relate the effects of the basic physical principles to potential hazards.
- Perform basic calculations that define and quantify the physical principles.
- Apply the proper physical principle to the observed data
- Examine data and determine its significance.
