Upon completion of the course, students will be able:
- Calculate solutions to business problems manually and electronically.
- Read, Write, and round numbers.
- Add, subtract, multiply, and divide whole numbers.
- Identify types of fractions; add, subtract, multiply, and divide fractions.
- Round decimals, convert fractions to decimals, and decimals to fractions. Add, subtract, multiply, and divide decimals.
- Define and state purposes of the various parts of the checking account; explain, define, and complete a bank statement and reconciliation.
- Solve of equations with an unknown value. Complete word problems in solving for the unknown
- List and explain typical discount period and credit periods and calculate outstanding balances.
- Calculate dollar markup and selling price
- Calculate selling price based on cost.
- Calculate various types of employees' gross pay
- Calculate and compute payroll deductions for pay
- Calculate simple interest and maturity value
- Differentiate between interest-bearing and noninterest-bearing notes.
- Calculate bank discount and proceeds; calculate maturity value, bank discount and proceeds.
- Compare simple interest with compound interest
