Student Conduct
Weatherford College has the responsibility and authority to formulate and enforce rules of student conduct that are appropriate and necessary to further the educational goals of the College and its students. Students who enroll must accept responsibility for their behavior and for their ultimate success in higher education. To create a positive climate for learning, Weatherford College expects all students to abide by a Code of Student Behavior. To summarize: Students must maintain high standards of scholastic honesty. Violations of the Code of Student Behavior include but are not limited to cheating on tests or assignments, plagiarism, and collusion; violence or threats of violence; loud or abusive language; and failure to comply with the direction of College officials and instructors. Students are expected to display professional behavior at all times while onsite at the intern site as well as in all communications with the practicum site supervisor and the course instructor. Violation of program or college code of conduct can result in student’s removal from the intern site, course, and under extreme cases the Human Service Provider program or Weatherford College.

This class will be graded on a letter grade basis. To pass the course the student must complete all hours required (144 hours), provide documentation to the intern supervisor stating that all hours were completed with competency in areas related to human service provider. Students must regularly fill out and submit time sheets to their course instructor signed by their practicum site supervisor. The student also is required to complete assignments posted in a MOODLE classroom, mainly forum discussions between students, and weekly communication with the class instructor through emails. Forum discussions will count for 10% of the final grade, and weekly emails to instructor will count for another 10% of the final grade. There will also be several required meetings on campus with your instructor. These dates will be determined by your instructor and communicate to the student in a timely way.
MOODLE forums are available so that students can communicate with each other about their experiences at their sites. I do expect responses to several of your cohorts to encourage and share with each other’s experiences.
Weekly email to course instructor will contain the following:
- A brief description of tasks performed that week.
- A brief discussion of anything they learned in their internship, and/or any concerns or questions they may have.
- Emails are used to provide more individual communication with your instructor and not other students.
- Reflection paper(s) through the semester may be required, determined by the instructor.
Attendance
Attendance for the intern student is an absolute must. The student in SCWK 2387 needs to average 9 hours per week for a sixteen week period. If for any reason the student is unable to attend their practicum site they are required to call their intern agency supervisor and their course instructor to let them know.
