Weatherford College’s Associate of Applied Science in Radio & Television Broadcasting equips students with the foundational knowledge, technical concepts, and professional practices essential to the broadcast and digital media industries. This program covers the principles of audio and video production, media writing, content planning, and broadcast operations through structured coursework, project‑based assignments, and applied learning activities. Students develop technical literacy, creative problem‑solving, teamwork, and communication skills essential in a variety of media-based careers. Our students actively demonstrate competencies in media production, storytelling, and communication, enabling them to gain entry‑level opportunities in the field. Our graduates leave with a strong foundation for pursuing entry‑level media positions, internships, or further specialized training in broadcasting, production, and digital content creation.
Exploration of theories, techniques, and processes of public relations (PR). Includes methods of building good will, analysis of media, obtaining publicity, and implementation of PR programs.
Integrated marketing communications. Includes advertising principles and practices. Emphasizes multi-media of persuasive communication including buyer behavior, budgeting, and regulatory constraints.
Radio and television announcing skills such as voice quality, articulation, enunciation, and pronunciation. Includes preparation for on air and voice over positions.
Career-related activities encountered in the student's area of specialization offered through an individualized agreement among the college, employer, and student. Under the supervision of the college and the employer, the student combines classroom learning with work experience. Includes a lecture component.
LA work-based learning experience that enables the student to apply specialized occupational theory, skills and concepts. A learning plan is developed by the college and the employer.
